RE – Thinking about community

Our whole-school theme this week is LONDON so in RE we are going to be thinking about community.

We are going to listen to the story of The Good Samaritan.  The Good Samaritan is a parable that Jesus told.  That means it is a story with a special message for us to think about.  Watch the video and then think about the questions.

EYFS & KS1: The Good Samaritan (Beginner’s Bible)

KS2: The Good Samaritan (BBC)

Questions:

How do you think the man felt when people kept walking past him?

Who helped the man in the end?  Why was this a surprise?

How do you think the man felt when he was finally helped?

Think about yourself: Are there some people you are happy to help and some people you do not like helping?  What does this story say about that?

Remember to comment with your ideas and a prayer.

  2. kurmr says:

He felt very upset and depressed because he thought that nobody was going to help an old man like him

The samaritan helped him in the end by getting him into a hotel.

It was a surprise because he thought that him an all the samaritan‘s were enemies.

He felt relieved and grateful with a bit of joyfulness.

The story says that if we are enemies or not, we should always help each other no matter what.

  4. shalk says:

He felt sad and disappointed because the people whom passed him by were those of whom he was expecting to be caring and compassion.

The person who helped him was the Samaritan, The one he always believed and seen as his enemy.

I believe he felt relieved, grateful, happy even and also he was seeing things differently because now he knows whom to trust and to not.

The story tells you that someone whom you see as a enemy can turn out to be a friend in need. Someone, who you think is your friend, is then able to back stab you or even leave you to suffer, but not all people are like this. Some can care for you.
