Monday 13th April

Hi year 5!

We are one week into our rather strange Easter break. I would have been in Scotland now walking and biking around the wonderful mountain ranges and lochs of the Highlands. However, rather than being frustrated with this situation, I find myself feeling thankful for the time I have had to do things that I would usually not be able to do. I have been doing lots and lots of baking and cooking (my favourites have been sourdough bread, cauliflower pakora, banana and chocolate muffins, tandoori chicken and slow cooked chilli con carne), talking to friends and loved ones on the phone much more than normal and doing lots of stretching exercise and biking for my daily exercise. I am grateful for being given the time to do these things more so than usual.

I hope you are all doing well, spending time with your family and keeping yourselves occupied with activities that you enjoy. Please share what you have been up to over the past week… It’s always lovely to see what you have been doing.

I will return to normal, daily blogging as of next week with Busy things activities being uploaded and information regarding the continuance of your online learning after the first week back.

Take care, miss you all, stay safe and always be mindful of others in your household and how they are feeling. We are all in this together.

Love Mr Roman X

Monday 6th April

Good morning my lovely year 5!

This message marks the first day of your Easter holiday… I know it feels a bit strange and different to normal but remember we are all doing the same thing and you and your family are not alone in this.

I will be spending the next couple of weeks exercising at home or on my bike, cooking, reading and doing all the jobs I never usually get to do, such as cleaning out all the cupboards! I may also do a bit of painting as I never to get to actually paint my own things when I’m teaching art!

Considering we never got to finish our ‘space’ topic in science I thought you may want to have a look at the following space websites:

https://www.nasa.gov

Click on ‘galleries’ and ‘missions’ at the top to see some cool images and information and if you click on ‘Educational activities with ‘NASAathome’ and choose ‘for students’ ‘grade 5-8’ there are fun activities for you to do.

The link below is the link to the children’s section on the European space agencies website:

https://www.esa.int/kids/en/home

It would be lovely to see some photos of what you have been up to at home so please upload them to photos@allsoulsprimary.co.uk and they will be shared on the All Souls website.

If you fancy taking part in an Easter egg hunt on busy things, here is the link:

Here is a link for some other busy things activities for Easter if you fancy taking a look:

Also, All Souls Church have online services taking place on Good Friday and Easter Sunday…

Here is a link to the All Souls C Zone, where Bible stories are shared.

I hope you all have a good week and remember there’s always something creative that you can do if you’re bored, or you can do something helpful for your family. Also remember, that you and the other people in your household may need some quiet time so try to be mindful of that.

I will message again next Monday.

Take care of yourselves. Thinking of you and missing you all.

Friday 3rd April

Good morning year 5!

We find ourselves at the end of the spring term. Well done for being so good completing your home learning packs, busy things activities and blogging. I know it’s been very odd but it has been great to see you working in a different way, showing that you and your families can adapt to unexpected situations. I commend you all!

I have uploaded a few more activities on busy things and I will leave them, and some older ones, open for the next week or so, in case there are activities you would still like to complete.

Also, regarding Spanish, please make sure you check the ‘Mr Gonzalo/ Spanish’ blog for messages and activities on busy things…

Here is a message from Mrs P:

Well done everyone for all your hard work at home for the last 2 weeks.  Today marks the end of the Spring term and it is now time for you to relax and spend time with your families for the next 2 weeks.

Over the Easter break the teachers will be busy planning new paper work packs for you all, which will be delivered to you at home at some point over the first week.

In the meantime, please make sure you are checking your class bogs for a messages from your teacher.  During Week 1 of the Summer Term, the teachers will be setting you some new maths and Busy Things activities and I will be setting you a creative writing challenge each day.

We are missing you all  and think about you every day.  Remember keep reading, keep moving and keep on being kind to your families.

Mrs Plesniak.

I will be messaging you all next Monday and the Monday after, with a holiday message and any news I may need to give you.

Take care and all my love to you and your families.

Prayer reminder

Last Friday, I wrote a prayer on my morning message and suggested maybe you would like to do the same…

If you have time, it would be nice if you could blog some of your own prayers in these trying times. We need as many messages of love, hope, care, courage, mindfulness and compassion as possible,

Many thanks and love to all.

Tuesday 31st March

Good morning Year 5,

It was lovely to speak to your parents and some of you yesterday on the phone. I’m glad all seems well considering the situation we find ourselves in at the moment.

I have added some more activities on busy things around area and perimeter following on from yesterday, prepositions for grammar, flags of Northern Europe and continents and oceans.

Also, some of you will be pleased to hear that ‘First News’ is now on the school website. If you go to All souls’ website (Not your USO), and click on ‘children’, you will see a first news link near the bottom of the drop down… Every Friday a new edition will be there for you to read.

Keep safe, keep calm and keep it up guys!

Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning year 5,

As it is Friday I have added some music activities on Busy things along with some grammar  and maths (2D and 3D).

Also, here is a link for some singing at home:

As an extra, I thought it would be nice to write a reflective prayer. You can write them down and decorate them if you would like to. This is an extra activity, you do not have to do it but I would love it if you could share some. Here is my example:

Dear Lord,

Let us give thanks for our families and loved ones.

For giving us the strength of togetherness.

For helping each other in times of need.

For the love that is shared around our world.

Let us pray for those who need it

and keep us strong and positive in these trying times.

Amen

Have good Fridays and love to you all.

Mr Roman

Thursday

Good morning year 5,

I have added some more activities to busy things and I have extended all activities that have not been been completed by many children, to next Monday to give more of you a chance to complete them.

Also, please make sure you check the ‘Miss Ascough’ blog every week. This is a weekly reflection/ collective worship post for you to read, so that we are all coming together and know that we are here for each other.

Have good Thursday’s – If you are feeling bored, offering to help your parents with some jobs might be useful.

Take care

Mr Roman X
