Year 1 Summer 1 Week 1

Good morning to the fantastic Year 1!

I hope you and your families are all well and in good health. I also hope that you have had a lovely Easter break and that  you were busy  with the new activities and games that you had played. I wish to thank everyone who had sent me their lovely photos or wrote a little message on our class blog. That meant a lot as in these awkward times it really is important to know that we are all well.

It is time for us to start a new term and I apologise if this is going to be a lengthy letter, but there is quite a lot that I would like to share with you. I will start calling all our families today to have a little chat with you and explain in more detail how we plan to organise this term.

We start our day with we know who.

One and only Joe Wicks.

P.E. With Joe / The Body Coach

In Literacy , across the school, we will be using a new website called pobble and this week’s topic  is All About the Food.

Here is the link to follow:

https://app.pobble.com/lessons/preview/2ea1891d

Keep scrolling along the slides on the left side of screen. The first slide is a picture icon, followed by the LO / Learning Objective (in this case the task is to match up the tricky words with their meaning) Please, for today do only the Vocabulary Challenge.  You can post your answers in the comments of your blog tomorrow for me to check.

Maths and other subjects will be again in the form of online work from Busy Things and it is already set up for you this week. Please, make sure you complete the work in the given time frame.

Apart from these tasks I’m asking you to read every day for half an hour.

Reading: Today you will read the book called  O No, George on the following link: https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/oh-no-george/

Switch off the sound as you read and switch it on if you struggle to pronounce some words. Use your phonics knowledge before you switch the sound on.

Phonics: Every day practice the phonics scheme on the Phonics Play website.  I will explain more about this over the phone

What is Phonics?

Don’t forget  to look for your Spanish lessons on Gonzalo’s blog and make sure you check Miss Ascough’s blog as well.

I will be preparing for you another learning pack this week and hopefully it will reach you by Friday, 24th April.

Easter Break!

Dear Year One!

The Easter break has officially started! I have planned to spend it by doing many things I usually don’t have time to do, like sorting out my photos and creating a photo album, tidying up my garden and planting some new plants. I will be preparing for Easter by decorating Easter eggs and experimenting with some new recipes, but above all I will be reading a lot!

Tell me what are your plans for this Easter break? I can’t wait to hear from you.

Whatever you do, make sure you take lots of photos!

Your photos of the rainbow that you’ve made, your teddies in the windows, maybe some delicious  cake recipe or Easter Egg hunt in your bedroom and many more can be sent to photos@allsoulsprimary.co.uk.

I will add my photos as well and some of the photos I will add to our blog  next Monday!

And in case you still don’t how to spend your free time in the next couple of weeks maybe these links might help you!
