Day 8

Good morning Year 6.

I hope this blog finds you well, and that you all had a lovely weekend.

I had a bit of a lazy Sunday, which involved reading my book and baking an apple and orange cake.  What did you all get up to?  What book are you reading at the moment?  Remember to be reading for at least 30 minutes per day!

I  have uploaded 4 Busy Things assignments for you today:

English – What is punctuation? (1).

Maths – Calculating volume of 3D shapes.

Science – Digestive system.

Geography – Cocoa producing countries.

I know that Kapo does not have the ‘Adverb Arrow’ sheet in her pack – please do not worry if this is missing for all of you.  I tried to include a link to the sheet but as it is a PDF, it would not work.  I will see if I can post it as a picture tomorrow.

As today would normally be our day for Science, I thought you might like the Science Museum link I found (I know that Karim will definitely enjoy this).  Here you can explore the museum’s collection, complete brain-teasing puzzles or learn about science with a range of science games and apps…

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

      Good afternoon Rahul,

I am well thank you – pleased to hear you are sticking with a routine to help you with your home-learning.

With regards to the Maths Reasoning Papers, nobody in Year 6 obtained these as planned. On that last day, the photocopier was being used by many members of staff, and kept breaking. I posted a link to the 2017 Reasoning Paper 2 in one of my blogs last week. In case you missed this blog, the link is…

The Sample 2016 paper, which is down on your schedule to do first, is not available for me to link. Please do not worry if you do not do everything on the schedule, as I am posting daily assignments for you to do on ‘Busy Things’ as well.

With regards to Mum being able to email me, Miss Ascough has suggested that parents email the office first at office@allsoulsprimary.co.uk. Theresa will then send any emails to relevant staff members. I have deleted your Mum’s email address from your original message, as I did not want everyone to see it.

      Take care.

Hello good morning miss Cooley I am late to talking to you so I’m sorry, this is Aidan. I’m doing well and I am sticking to the rota and I am happy. On Friday I did some painting in the garden and I spoke to some of my cousins on video. Hope that you and your family are healthy and doing well in this time. I am reading the Skulduggery Pleasant series and I reading the how to train your dragon series. I am looking for another book from a year 5 series they published a new book to the series so I am looking into it. I’ve already chatted to Miss Plesniak a few minutes ago and I am going to speak to Mr Gonzalo.
I am a bit confused now about the work. Do we do the work from the pack on that day and then after go onto the assignments that you are giving us and do that work. If so should I do all the work from the previous days in your blogs all today or should I just carry on my work but also do your blog work? Sorry for being a bit too chatty. I hope I put full stops in. I hope that u do have a wonderful day and keep positive at these crisis. Mag we all be safe.

    From Aidan

      Dear Aidan,

It was lovely to chat with your Mum yesterday, and I am pleased to hear from you via the Year 6 blog.

It is good that you are sticking to a routine – definitely helps when you are learning from home.

I would continue working with the pack that was sent to your home. Do not worry about any past Busy Things activities that I have uploaded, as they are only available to complete and submit each day. I would recommend that you read my blog each day as I sometimes make links to virtual museums etc. When you are finished with the pack, then you can start Busy Things, or if you run out of activities to do and want to do more, you can certainly do both.

      Take care.

      Miss Cooley

      Morning Aleena,

Share some of your riddles on here – would be good to see if any of us can solve them.
