Good morning Year 2!
Did you have a good weekend? I had a lovely time doing lots of cooking, chatting with friends on the computer and riding my bike. What did you do?
I am very excited about our topic for the rest of this term: Castles and Knights. What do you already know about Castles and Knights? Write in the comments to tell me!
You all received your new home learning packs on Friday, so the blog posts will look a little different now as all the information you need is in your paper packs. However, you will still need to check these blogs every morning to find your Literacy lesson and your Maths lesson. Everything else you need is in your pack, along with a timetable to help you know how to use it. If you have any questions, just send me a message on here. Each day, I will also post a few optional extra activities for those of you who would like them.
Here are today’s video lessons.
Literacy
In Literacy we are going to be using a book called The Dragon Machine to inspire our writing. You don’t need to have the book at home – the videos I post will read it to you. Get your writing book (from your home learning pack) ready, write today’s date, and then press play. The video will tell you what to do.
Maths
In Maths, we are going to learn about fractions. We had just started doing this in school when we had to close. We are going to start from the beginning. This will mean we will revisit some things we learnt in school before moving on to new things.
Before you watch the video, make sure you have your maths sheet with today’s date ready. The video will tell you when to answer the questions on the sheet. To find the video, you need to go to this website:
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
When you are there, you need to click on Week 1, Lesson 1 – Make equal parts. It looks like this:
Please ignore the dates on the website as we are not following these.
Everything else you need for today is in your home learning packs.
On the activity grid in the home learning packs (w/b 27th April), I suggested some websites you could use for the activities. I have put links to those websites here as you might find it easier to click than typing in the links. I will re-post these every day so don’t feel you have to click on them all today!

Optional Extras:
If you would like some extra activities, then I have posted some links below. I have also put some activities on BusyThings.
Maths: The Mystery of the Missing Story Ending
Have a great day everyone and I hope you enjoy this new learning.
Love from Mrs Legg
Good Morning Mrs Legg
On the weekend I went on lots of bike rides and climbed a huge tree with my sister. I have also build a Star Wars council chambers with lego and played lots and lots. We have also been watching race around the world and learning about South America which I have enjoyed a lot and now I’d like to go there.
We haven’t received my pack yet, so I will do the extra work today and some reading on our topic.
Hope you have a great day.
Hi Christian. It sounds like you had a lovely weekend. I’ve been watching Race Across the World, too. It’s my favourite programme now! If you have some paper you can write on at home, you can do the Literacy lesson without the home learning pack. If you have a printer, you can print off the maths sheet yourself from the website I gave a link to in the blog. But don’t worry if you’d rather do other things today, I don’t mind. Have a good day! 🙂
