    Hi Miss Cooley,

Thank you for calling me this morning. My mum just remembered that the secondary school you sent the latest reference to yesterday needs 2 references 1 from my English/Literacy Teacher (you) and my Maths teacher (Mrs Plesniak). I will let you know if they need one from Ms Ascough. Thank you.

    From Oliver

      Dear Oliver,

It was lovely to chat with you this morning.

I have passed on the information to Mrs Plesniak regarding the reference.

Good afternoon Miss Cooley, update on my dad from last night, as well his right side he is now flickering his left leg too. He gets nervous when they move him around which is good. But once settled he calms down and he is responding to commands.

    Hi Miss Colley
I hope that you are having a god day, despite the horrible weather. I have done all my hw for today expect for the first news and the pobble 365. The fist news hw, whenever I open the link it dosent respond, I have tried doing other links and it works fine. The pobble 365 says ,for me, that you need to have an account and it gave me the option to not make 1 and then the screen goes blank

      Hi Hanifa,

I called 4 times and left messages. I will try again tomorrow morning at 10.30am. Is everything okay?

Hi Miss Cooley, we just did the video call. Before they said they made him sit on a chair and the edge of the bed. Whilst the video call, my brother recited Qur’an. He sometimes lifted his head up.

    Hi Miss Cooley,
hope you are ok and have had a good day even though the weather hasn’t been lovely!
My mum has asked me to send you some of the fractions that I found hard in one of the mock sats papers.
    1. 1 3/7 – 4/7
    2. 1 1/5 + 2 1/10
    3. 8/9 -1/4
    4. 2/3 divide by 3
    5. 2 1/2 – 3/4
    6. 1 3/4 x 10
    7. 5/6 x 540

I have got really good at doing percentages now, my mum has been helping me a lot with that and we looked on BBC Bitesize which is really helpful!
    Hope to see you soon!

      Morning Jimi,

We did a lot of these types of sums in class but here is a breakdown of how to answer the SATs questions…

      1. 1 3/7 – 4/7 is a mixed number fraction subtract a fraction so first you need to change the mixed number fraction to an improper fraction. You multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the numerator…

      1 x 7 + 3 = 10 so it is 10/7 – 4/7 = 6/7

      2. 1 1/5 + 2 1/10 is a mixed number addition but you also have to make sure that the denominators are the same. Change both mixed number fractions into improper fractions…

      1 x 5 + 1 = 6 so it is 6/5

      2 x 10 + 1 = 21/10

Now we need to make the 6/5 the same as the 21/10 denominator. Remember whatever you do to the top, you do to the bottom…

      6/5 = 12/10

Now you can do the sum…

12/10 + 21/10 = 33/10 – you can then change this improper fraction into a mixed number fraction.

      3. 8/9 – ¼ is a sum where you need to make the denominator the same. So you need to find a common denominator of 9 and 4 which is 36. You need to do the same to the top as you do to the bottom…

      8/9 = 32/36
      ¼ = 9/36

      Then you can subtract them…

      32/36 – 9/36 = 23/36

      4. 2/3 divide by 3 is confusing because you actually need to multiply for this sum. The numerator stays the same but you multiply the denominator by the whole number…

      3 x 3 = 9 so the answer is 2/9

      5. 2 ½ – ¾ is like number 2 and 3. You have to make the mixed number fraction into an improper fraction and then make both of the fractions have the same denominator…

      2 x 2 + 1 = 5/2
So really the sum is 5/2 – ¾ so now we need to find the common denominator which is 8…

20/8 – 6/8 = 14/8 which can then be changed into a mixed number fraction.

      6. 1 ¾ x 10 is when you have to change the mixed number fraction into an improper fraction…

      1 x 4 + 3 = 7/4

Now you can do 7/4 x 10 by multiplying the numerator by the whole number…

7 x 10 = 70 so the answer is 70/4 which can then be changed into a mixed number fraction.

      7. 5/6 x 540 is like the sum above. You multiply the numerator by the whole number…

5 x 540 = 2700/6 which can then be changed into a mixed number fraction.

      Hope that makes some sense.

      This website is really good…
