Good morning Miss Cooley,i would like to ask if we are still doing busy things

    From Anna

    • tcooley says:

      Dear Anna,

I left a message on your Mum’s phone this morning. I will try and call back later or tomorrow morning.

We are no longer doing Busy things, unless I set you a specific assignment in my blog.

Hello miss Cooley I can’t read the text under the science sheets. I didn’t write the LO for the past days because I didn’t know what to do with them. Hope you have an amazing day

    • tcooley says:

      Dear Kimberly,

I am going to sort my blog out now so hopefully you will be able to see the text under the Science sheets.

Do not worry too much about any past LOs. From now on, make sure you write the date and LO, at the top of the page, in your orange exercise book.

Have a good day, and let me know if you still cannot see the text under the Science sheets.

    Good morning Miss Cooley,
for the First News should I say I am logging in from school or home? Because in the message you sent me on the First News website saying the activities I should do it says from school.

  4. souto says:

It’s fine I worked it out, I put in school and the assignments were there.

    • tcooley says:

      Hi Olivia,

I am glad that you have worked it out. Sorry for any confusion.

    Afternoon Miss Cooley!

  6. Ady08 says:

Good afternoon Miss Cooley, I hope you are doing well. Also your dad and Oreo.
I haven’t got an update on my dad but maybe at 1 ish or 2 ish.
We could possibly do another video call with him.
Just to make sure he doesn’t get emotional is that we have to make jokes with him to lift his spirits.
One example… my haircut… yes my oldest brother (Minhaj) who you know messed up my sides and the top bit of my hair. Now it is realllyyyy short:( .

    • tcooley says:

      Good afternoon Adyan,

I hope I didn’t wake your brother up when I called!!

I think there will be a lot of haircuts like this during the lockdown. My fringe has got really long but I am not going to trust cutting it myself – I will just have to wait for the hairdressers to reopen.

Hope you can make your Dad smile later on.

      • Ady08 says:

Thank you Miss Cooley. HEHEHEHE (about the hair).
When did you call because I didn’t hear the phone.
I am wondering how my brother didn’t wake up. Maybe because he is in dream land.
Maybe dreaming about cutting my other brother’s hair.
I just hope he messes up like mine hehe.
I actually sound like the most evil sibling.

      • Ady08 says:

I hope he can. Forgot to mention, when we did the video call, my mum asked him if he can lift or move his head. He responded straight away and we were getting happier because he was getting stronger every day. We also told him to show us his ability which will probably prevent him from getting emotional but whenever we see him we get emotional in the inside and I think he does too but maybe he can’t hold it in.

        • tcooley says:

          Dear Adyan,

I am sure your Dad is feeling emotional because he is seeing all of your lovely faces and is missing being at home. It is good to let it out and have a cry but I also understand that you want to appear strong to your Dad, so that he doesn’t worry about you.

Miss Cooley, I probably should have asked this earlier but should we copy down the answers into our home learning book or should we do it on separate paper and also should we do the answer s of the maths on the worksheet or do you want me to copy it over something else? 😐

    Take care xoxo

    Aleena 😉

    • tcooley says:

      Dear Aleena,

Maths can be done on the worksheets. All other written work e.g. English, Spanish, History and Science can be done in the orange exercise book. First News work is all online.

      Hope that makes sense.

  8. Aidan says:

Hello, yesterday night at like 2:.. something AM my cat brought a dead bird into the house with it`s HEAD I think that he just had the head, my mum found him siting on the prayer mat with it next to him, then he ran into the garden and started playing with it. He has done this before to show his love, but not play with it or just the head. It was so sad. I think that he was sad that we didn`t like it. We don`t know where the bird head is now, I never saw it because I didn`t want to, but I saw a video my mum took.

    • tcooley says:

      Good afternoon Aidan,

Yes, unfortunately cats do this as a way of showing their love for you. They want to be praised for doing this as they are born hunters.

Oreo is a house cat, so she has not been able to do this. However, she has a toy which she carries around with her – a bit like a Mummy cat with her babies.

    hi miss cooley
I could not find the moore money anywhere and the literacy tree vid dosent start
but I have done everything else

    • tcooley says:

      Hi Yasir,

When you log in to the First News website, there should be a comprehension for you to do. Is it not showing?

I have just checked the Literacy Tree video from my computer and it is definitely working. Sometimes, if too many people are trying to access the internet at the same time, it can cause some problems. I am hoping that you are able to watch the video later on.

If it still doesn’t work, this is what you are meant to be doing…

Think about the title ‘The Promise’.
What job does ‘The’ do? What word class is it?
How about ‘Promise’? How does the word promise differ according to context? Can you write a sentence where it is used as a verb? What other words can you do that with?

Think about how abstract nouns can express a mood or theme. Look at how many of them have the suffixes –tion or –ness or –ment e.g.
      deceit, dedication, destruction, curiosity, happiness
      bewilderment, intelligence, loyalty, trust, bravery

Look at different parts of the story and what mood is portrayed by the author using abstract nouns:
In the city we knew that.. because
Down the dark street it felt like.. as
On balconies and rooftops the mood was of.. since

Use a combination of prepositions (using sentence starters given or others) to interrogate each part of the text for where + mood depicted by author.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Hi Miss Cooley, we did the video call again. Me and my brother recited Qur’an.
We started to console him because he was getting emotional.
He lifted his head to show he understands.
    He also waved to us.

  12. souto says:

Hi Miss Cooley for the R.E do you have to write down the questions in our orange book?
