SWOP
Hi Y2! I’ve enjoyed seeing some of you (at a 2m distance) around the neighbourhood. Guess who I saw? One girl in y2 had a budgie on her head! Another y2 gal has been watching Lord of the Rings!
I’m well apart from missing you which is causing my words to swop at the end of my sentences. When you chat with your families, it might just happen to you as well.
Every sentence you say, change the last 2 words by swopping their first letters. Instead of saying, “She’s my little sister,” you would say, “She’s my sittle lister.” Instead of saying, “That was yummy pasta,” you would say, “That was pummy yasta.” Another one might be, “I should clean my messy room,” turning into, “I should clean my ressy moon.” Try it. It’s funny!

Year 2 Monday 27th April
Good morning Year 2!
Did you have a good weekend? I had a lovely time doing lots of cooking, chatting with friends on the computer and riding my bike. What did you do?
I am very excited about our topic for the rest of this term: Castles and Knights. What do you already know about Castles and Knights? Write in the comments to tell me!
You all received your new home learning packs on Friday, so the blog posts will look a little different now as all the information you need is in your paper packs. However, you will still need to check these blogs every morning to find your Literacy lesson and your Maths lesson. Everything else you need is in your pack, along with a timetable to help you know how to use it. If you have any questions, just send me a message on here. Each day, I will also post a few optional extra activities for those of you who would like them.
Here are today’s video lessons.
Literacy
In Literacy we are going to be using a book called The Dragon Machine to inspire our writing. You don’t need to have the book at home – the videos I post will read it to you. Get your writing book (from your home learning pack) ready, write today’s date, and then press play. The video will tell you what to do.
Maths
In Maths, we are going to learn about fractions. We had just started doing this in school when we had to close. We are going to start from the beginning. This will mean we will revisit some things we learnt in school before moving on to new things.
Before you watch the video, make sure you have your maths sheet with today’s date ready. The video will tell you when to answer the questions on the sheet. To find the video, you need to go to this website:
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
When you are there, you need to click on Week 1, Lesson 1 – Make equal parts. It looks like this:
Please ignore the dates on the website as we are not following these.

Annoying Next Numbers
Hi y2, Rhonda here!! Thankfully my reading and writing names backwards has been sorted but now there seems to be a problem with numbers! Each time I say a word that sounds like a number, the next number nudges in! Here’s what happens every time:
You should pay attention! –turns into– You should pay aelevention!
Let’s go to Tesco. –turns into– Let’s go three Tesco.
Which one do you want? –turns into– Which two do you want?
Clean your room before we eat. –turns into– Clean your room befive we eat.
I ate a lot for breakfast. –turns into– I nine a lot breakfast.
I’ll need your help again please. The only thing that will work is when you write back to me with another annoying next number sentence. Hurry! Love to you all, Rhonda x
